What is the difference between the North and South shuttle terminal drop-off points at the SeaTac Rental Car Facility?

Although Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) operates out of a single main terminal building, the rental car shuttle system is strategically split into two distinct routes: the Blue-line North shuttle and the Yellow-line South shuttle. This division is designed to streamline passenger flow and minimize walking distances across the expansive terminal. The South shuttle drop-off point is strategically positioned on the arrivals level near Door 6, providing the most direct access to the international airline counters (such as Asiana, Emirates, and ANA) as well as Security Checkpoints 1 and 2. This makes the South route the optimal choice for international travelers who typically require extra time for check-in procedures. Conversely, the North shuttle drops off near Door 26 on the opposite end of the terminal, offering immediate proximity to domestic carriers like Alaska and Delta, along with Security Checkpoints 3 and 4. Shuttles depart from the rental car facility approximately every 5 minutes, and the ride itself takes about 8 minutes. Choosing the correct shuttle can save you up to a 15-minute walk across the terminal, so it is crucial to check the airline signs at the rental car facility before boarding.
